Access to the Data Warehouse enables faculty and staff of the University of Illinois System to create custom reports, queries, or data downloads based on Finance, HR, or Student data available in the Data Warehouse. Custom reports can be created using the Business Objects reporting tool, or via any other query or reporting tool you choose (MS Access, SQL Plus, Crystal Reports, SAS, or others), as long as it is ODBC-compliant. Using your access to the Data Warehouse you can:
DS Unit Security Contact (USC) Application
University information security policy authorizes designated Unit Security Contacts (USCs) to request EDDIE and Data Warehouse access on behalf of faculty and staff of the University of Illinois System. Data Warehouse Access Requests can only be accepted from Unit Security Contacts. Requests are submitted via the DS Unit Security Contact (USC) Application.
Learn more about how to fill out and submit the Data Warehouse Access Request form via the step-by-step instructions.
Learn more about the Data Warehouse access roles available for users via the detailed Data Warehouse Access Plan. (The Access Plan features a role-per-page format.)
Some access requests will require the DS Security staff to forward the request to one or more external departments to be reviewed by designated campus approvers. Access to the Data Warehouse will be enabled after receiving the Data Warehouse Access Request form, or after the required approvals have been secured. The DS Security team attempts to include the USC on communications that are sent to the campus approvers. USCs are encouraged to reach out to our DS Security team if they are unsure of the status of a request.
Unit Security Contacts may view the status of requests using the DS Unit Security Contact (USC) Application. Choose the “View Access Requests” option. Note that this list does not necessarily show what access the employee has; just the requests that were submitted. The most reliable way for a USC to see current access is to use the USC Standard Report in EDDIE – Data Access for Users in Orgs of USC.

AITS is a resource for administrative enterprise data for the university. This data is generally available in three forms:
Hundreds of reports are available in the student, finance, and human resources areas. The AITS Reporting Team develops, modifies, and maintains customer requested custom reports. If you have a reporting request, please submit your request to the AITS Service Desk including a 1-2 paragraph description of the requested work and it will be assigned to the appropriate functional and/or technical area to be assessed.
Operational data (data that is updated through the course of business operations) from enterprise systems is available for units to access ad hoc or to feed into custom developed unit reports. There are several ways to access this data depending on the source, nature, and timeliness of the data required. If you have a data request, please submit your request to the AITS Service Desk including a 1-2 paragraph description of the requested work and it will be assigned to the appropriate functional and/or technical area to be assessed.
Decision Support offers transformed, historical data via a Data Warehouse environment for data access and reporting. See the Decision Support section for current services and access information.
A common requirement is to interface data between different applications. Integrations can provide opportunities for receiving data in a near real-time manner with minimal interdependencies between systems. AITS performs this activity for integrations with administrative enterprise systems using an OpenEAI integration architecture. If you are looking for application interfaces or integrations see Integration Services for details.
If you have an integration request, please submit your request to the AITS Service Desk including a 1-2 paragraph description of the requested work and it will be assigned to the appropriate functional and/or technical area to be assessed
